Teens & Adolescents

Our Approach

We recognize that many people are hesitant to attend counseling, adolescents in particular. Because of this, we structure sessions with adolescents in a unique way. We strive to hear and understand not only parental concerns, but also the adolescent's concerns, and set goals for therapy appropriately. Likewise, we often incorporate games, art, music, or walks outside in order to provide a more informal, casual environment for therapy. During sessions together, we seek to understand the presenting concern from the adolescent's perspective, without diminishing parental input. We also often work closely with school counselors, pediatricians, and other professionals as necessary.
